Ezgi Yürümez’s Melodies from Anatolia: Folk Songs for Violin with Piano Accompaniment has been published, combining technical music education with Anatolian heritage through nine folk song arrangements.

İstanbul Nişantaşı University faculty member Ezgi Yürümez has published a new work combining classical violin education with Anatolia’s distinctive melodies. “Melodies from Anatolia: Folk Songs for Violin with Piano Accompaniment” contains nine folk songs arranged by Yürümez for violin and piano. Its principal aim is to support students’ rounded musical development and technical skills by introducing folk music’s rich melodic and rhythmic structures.

In the book, Yürümez reinterprets deeply rooted folk songs through the sound of the violin. Nine songs collected from across Anatolia, including “Kaytağı,” “Sabahın Seherinde Ötüyor Kuşlar,” “Çıkayım Gideyim Urum Eline” and “Ben Kendimi Gülün Dibinde Buldum,” aim to introduce cultural richness alongside technical development. The work serves both as a technical guide for violin and piano students and a window into Anatolian culture.

Combining classical music’s disciplined approach with Anatolia’s distinctive melodic structure, the book aims to offer a multifaceted musical experience. These arrangements provide opportunities not only to develop technical skills but also to discover folk music’s rhythmic and melodic richness.
