Avitalks’24 connected students with aviation professionals. Turkish Airlines experts shared experience of technician and pilot careers, workplace safety, and the industry.

Avitalks’24, organised by the İstanbul Nişantaşı University Aviation Club, began with an opening address by Aviation Club President and Event Coordinator Mustafa Berk Orhan. Emphasising that aviation lies at the heart of courage, innovation and dreams, Orhan stated that this dynamic field advances every day through the contributions of young minds. He also noted that the event aimed to guide participants through inspiring success stories.

Lecturer Ramazan Koçar, HTK Training Manager and STDI Instructor, drew attention to rapid developments in the aviation industry. Noting that İstanbul Nişantaşı University graduates had begun taking active roles in the sector, he emphasised the importance of raising aviation’s profile through such events. Describing aviation as a high-risk industry, Koçar stated that a fundamental rule is to ensure “zero” loss of life and property.

In a panel moderated by Dr. Duygu Uludağ, Turkish Technic Chief Technician Erdem Erdem and Turkish Airlines Flight Academy Chief Theoretical Knowledge Instructor Abdülkadir Alşal shared important insights into career paths in aviation and the challenges encountered along the way.

Erdem highlighted his entry into a technical career and the critical importance of occupational safety in the sector, while Alşal shared his experiences of transitioning from military to civil aviation and his advice for aspiring pilots.

The event concluded with a question-and-answer session and the presentation of commemorative plaques.
