We Are Responsible for One Another – Project Introduction

The We Are Responsible for One Another project brought high school students and trainee dentists together with children, supporting healthy habits and social participation through oral health education and games.
Designed by Sainte Pulchérie French High School eleventh-grade student Derin Yiğit, “We Are Responsible for One Another” was implemented with a focus on social responsibility and solidarity by a committee of students from Sainte Pulchérie, Sajev, SAC and Sezin high schools.
On December 3, the high school students held a social responsibility event for children at Semiha Şakir Children’s Home. Supported by fifth-year student dentists from Istanbul Nişantaşı University’s Faculty of Dentistry, it served as a community health program helping children access accurate health information.
Student dentists provided practical instruction on oral and dental health and correct toothbrushing habits. Children developed awareness of healthy daily habits, and each received toothpaste and a toothbrush with support from sponsor companies.
Alongside health education, magic shows, dancing, games and interactive activities with high school students supported children’s social participation. This created an interactive environment where children could enjoy themselves and gain practical health knowledge.
Through its “We Are Responsible for One Another” approach, the project brought high school students, university students and children together, enabling young people to act with social responsibility and use their knowledge and skills for the public good. It also demonstrated that young people can work cooperatively to address societal needs and take active responsibility.
