The Innovation in New Media course in Istanbul Nişantaşı University’s New Media and Communication Department was enriched by a vocational education event featuring a representative from digital entrepreneurship. WasteLog Co-Founder Mahir Okay Çelik described how the WasteLog digital platform was founded, the challenges it faced and his entrepreneurial journey with students.
Moderated by department faculty member Assistant Professor Nida Kahraman and fourth-year student Aleyna Aysan Kaya, the event explored the course’s concepts of innovation, digital entrepreneurship and sustainability through the WasteLog example.
Students examined the development of digital ventures in new media from idea to implementation directly through an industry representative’s experience. Connecting theory with industry practice, the event contributed to critical thinking, practice-based learning and professional awareness.
