Pattern Designs from Traditional to Modern
Textile and Fashion Design 4 – Student Project Work
İstanbul Nişantaşı University held a year-end pattern exhibition prepared by students, reinterpreting motifs passed down through history and transferring them to fabrics using modern technology. Striking motifs from Ottoman–Turkish history, including tulips, carnations, pomegranate trees and çintemani patterns, were revived through modern techniques. Digital printing and innovative textile methods brought these historical beauties and our cultural heritage to fabric, giving traditional motifs new life with a contemporary touch.
Throughout the exhibition, visitors enjoyed motifs reflecting historical splendour and aesthetics. The elegance of tulips, vibrancy of carnations, abundance symbolised by pomegranate trees and distinctive çintemani patterns connected past and present, emphasising our cultural heritage’s importance.
The exhibition demonstrated our commitment to history and cultural values alongside our efforts to carry the past into the future through modern technology. Bringing past beauty together with today’s innovations, this special exhibition allowed us to share students’ year-long efforts.
