Our students joined the International Gastronomy Film Festival through the ÜNİDES-supported Tell a Film Through Food project. They connected cinema and gastronomy by translating film characters and stories into original plate designs.

Istanbul Nişantaşı University students attended the second International Gastronomy Film Festival as part of a ÜNİDES project supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Through the project “Tell the Story of a Film of Your Choice Through Food,” supervised by Research Assistant Gönen Islakoğlu, students brought cinema and gastronomy together in creative work.

Held in Çeşme, the festival began with presentations exploring the relationship between gastronomy, art and cinema. In the practical part of the program, students interpreted their chosen films through a gastronomic lens, transforming characters, atmosphere and stories into original plate designs.

The work displayed at the festival showed that food presentation can express a story, culture and cinematic narrative, as well as flavor. The plates attracted interest with original interpretations combining creativity, aesthetics and technical skill.

Through the project, students put their gastronomic knowledge and skills into practice and developed their abilities in interdisciplinary thinking, interpretation and design.

Supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the ÜNİDES project aims to enrich students’ practical experience by connecting academic work with culture, art and the creative industries.
