An art therapy and archaeology workshop at Karahantepe, organised with Harran University, enabled 45 students to experience heritage through creativity, interpretation, and social interaction.

The “Art Therapy Meets Archaeology: Experiencing Transformation Workshop,” organised jointly by Harran University and İstanbul Nişantaşı University, was held at Karahantepe. Organisers included Prof. Dr. Devran Tan from İstanbul Nişantaşı University’s Psychology Department, Associate Professor Derya Evran, Head of the Psychological Counselling and Guidance Division at Harran University’s Faculty of Education, and Associate Professor Emine Teker, Head of its Fine Arts Education Department.

The project aimed to foster interaction between students and Karahantepe’s structures bearing traces of the Neolithic period. With goals including developing creativity and imagination, enhancing social interaction and supporting learning, students explored the stories of the archaeological structures and reflected on their impact.

At the workshop, 45 students visiting Karahantepe for the first time experienced a memorable transformation, engaging with the archaeological structures through their questions and enthusiasm. The project offered a distinctive learning process encompassing archaeology and art therapy.
