Basic ECG Course Successfully Completed

The four-day Basic ECG Course offered healthcare professionals and students theoretical and practical training in heart rhythms, electrode placement, and case analysis.
The Basic ECG Course at İstanbul Nişantaşı University NeoTech Campus was successfully completed by the Faculty of Health Sciences and Vocational School of Health Services following an intensive four-day programme. Designed for healthcare professionals and students, it provided comprehensive training in theoretical and practical aspects of ECG.
The course focused on fundamentals including ECG devices’ operating principles, cardiac anatomy and the importance of electrode placement on the thorax. Arrhythmias such as tachycardia, bradycardia, atrial flutter and fibrillation were examined in detail alongside their characteristic ECG findings. Abnormalities including ventricular rhythms, bundle branch blocks and cardiac hypertrophy were also explored.
Topics included the effects of electrolyte disorders on ECG findings. Through cases encountered in clinical practice, participants gained detailed knowledge of their diagnosis and management. Presentations on medication effects and identifying artefacts underlined the importance of accurate diagnosis.
Practical sessions enabled participants to analyse ECGs from various cases. Reinforcing theory with practice helped develop clinical skills. Participants gained an in-depth understanding of ECG’s vital role in cardiac health and opportunities to apply their knowledge in practical exercises.
