The Women’s Hands in Production project provided practical wooden furniture manufacturing training. Supported by our Continuing Education Centre, it promoted women’s employment and economic independence.

The “Women’s Contribution to Production” project, implemented with the support of İstanbul Nişantaşı University Continuing Education Centre and organised by the Mersin Provincial Directorate of Labour and Employment Agency, has been successfully completed. Aiming to support women’s employment, the project was carried out under the auspices of the Mersin Governorship in collaboration with numerous institutions.

The project provided vocational training to equip women with technical skills such as wooden furniture manufacturing. Women aged 18–45 participated in the training at Tırmıl Mercek Vocational Training Centre. During the 2.5-month project, trainees received practical training to meet the sector’s need for skilled labour. Our project aimed to increase women’s participation in the workforce and support their economic independence.

An important stage of the project involved contacting more than 100 women individually through fieldwork and informing them about training opportunities. Collaboration with women neighbourhood heads and civil society organisations also helped successfully reach the project’s target group.

As İstanbul Nişantaşı University, we are proud to have participated in this meaningful project and thank all stakeholders and everyone who contributed. We hope that projects supporting women’s employment will continue to grow, and proudly affirm our commitment to supporting such initiatives.
