Plastic Packaging under the Waste Management Procedure
Istanbul Nişantaşı University’s AY.PR.01 Waste Management Procedure, published on 25 April 2025, includes waste prevention and reduction at source within its waste management framework. Section 6.3 addresses training and information on waste reduction and segregation, while sections 6.4 and 6.5 regulate separate collection at source. The procedure requires uncontaminated plastic packaging to be collected separately from other waste together with paper, cardboard and metal packaging, and provides for the recovery of packaging waste. Responsibility for implementation is assigned to the Rectorate, General Secretariat, Department of Support Services and all employees; the Occupational Health and Safety Board is assigned responsibilities for designating responsible personnel and providing information.
