LAMA2-RD Conference Hosted by Istanbul Nişantaşı University Faculty of Medicine Successfully Concluded at Maslak NeoTech Campus on 27–29 March 2026

The LAMA2-RD (Laminin Alpha-2-Related Dystrophy) Conference, hosted by Istanbul Nişantaşı University Faculty of Medicine, was successfully completed with strong participation at the Maslak NeoTech Campus from 27 to 29 March 2026.
Led by Prof. Dr. Haluk Topaloğlu, the conference brought together clinicians, researchers, patient associations and families from 17 countries. Over three days, the clinical findings, treatment processes and current scientific developments concerning LAMA2-RD, a rare and progressive muscle disease, were examined comprehensively.
Experts highlighted recent advances in neuromuscular diseases, emphasising that developments in SMA treatment are particularly promising for similar conditions.
The conference also included a training programme for paediatric neurologists entitled “Neuromuscular Diseases for Curious Young Minds”.
Organised in cooperation with the LAMA2-RD network, Maastricht University and Istanbul Nişantaşı University, the event made important contributions to supporting scientific research, increasing academic knowledge exchange and bringing international experts together on a shared platform.
Extending beyond academia to awareness activities for patients and families, this strong partnership laid the groundwork for developing multidisciplinary approaches and sustainable solutions for rare diseases.
