Institutional Approach to Reducing Financial Barriers
Istanbul Nişantaşı University commits to supporting access to quality education regardless of students' economic circumstances. This approach considers tuition costs alongside financial and social difficulties that may arise during study. The University's SDG 1 practices include needs-based scholarships, support requests and opportunities for eligible students to undertake paid work on campus.

Need Based Financial Aid and Scholarships
The Scholarship Directive provides for needs-based scholarships for students who experience unforeseen payment difficulties and document their circumstances. This establishes a route through which applications from students facing financial hardship can be considered for need-based financial aid and scholarships.
Under the Directive, the Scholarship Commission assesses applications, submits its decisions to the Rectorate, and decisions become final following approval by the Chair of the Board of Trustees. Support depends on assessment and the applicable conditions. The Directive also separately provides for scholarships for students with disabilities.

Communicating Needs through Support Requests
The Support Request Form described on the University's SDG 1 page enables students to communicate economic and social needs to the relevant university units. Applications are assessed according to students' needs and available support opportunities. This channel is intended to help reduce the effects of financial difficulties on education and support continued study.

Paid Part Time Work on Campus
The Nev Assistant programme offers eligible students opportunities to earn income and gain work experience on campus. Assessment considers suitability for the role alongside economic circumstances and support needs. Students may work in appropriate university units, including libraries and cultural and sports centres.

The relevant Directive limits work to 15 hours per week and 60 hours per month. It sets out payment and social insurance arrangements and provides for work schedules to be adjusted around changes to classes. Eligibility depends on student status, income and other conditions; the published Directive excludes foreign nationals from this programme.

Scholarship Continuity and Continued Study
The University's Uninterrupted Scholarship practice emphasises maintaining scholarship support during education. Students should consider the scope, duration and continuation requirements of their awards alongside the applicable directive and admission conditions. Predictable scholarship support can help students plan their educational expenditure.

Connection to SDG 1
Need-based financial aid and scholarships, support requests and paid work opportunities for eligible students provide mechanisms intended to reduce financial disruption to education. Together, they form part of the University's approach to supporting low-income students' participation in higher education and their continued engagement with study.
