Programmes for low-income students to complete their studies

An Approach to Supporting Study Completion

Istanbul Nişantaşı University offers scholarship continuity, needs-based assistance, support requests and work opportunities compatible with study to help address the risk of financial disruption to education. Student guidance and free learning opportunities complement these mechanisms.

The University’s approach includes enabling students to communicate economic and social needs arising during education to the relevant support channels and helping them continue their studies. Needs-based mechanisms and learning and guidance opportunities available to the wider student population operate under their respective eligibility conditions.

Scholarship Continuity and Need Based Financial Support

The Uninterrupted Scholarship practice emphasises maintaining support during education. Scholarship scope, duration and continuation depend on the applicable directive and admission conditions. The Scholarship Directive links awards for full and partial scholarship programmes listed in the ÖSYM guide to the normal period of study and excludes summer school.

The Directive also provides for needs-based scholarships for students who experience unforeseen payment difficulties and document their circumstances. The Scholarship Commission assesses applications for need-based financial aid and scholarships; decisions are submitted to the Rectorate and become final following approval by the Chair of the Board of Trustees.

Communicating Economic and Social Needs

The Support Request Form enables students to report economic and social needs to the relevant university units. Requests for needs-based financial support, scholarships and discounts are assessed according to individual needs and available support opportunities.

This mechanism enables students to communicate difficulties and have requests for assistance with continued study considered.
