Istanbul Nişantaşı University students attended the second International Gastronomy Film Festival as part of an ÜNİDES project supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Through the “Tell a Film of Your Choice through Food” project, supervised by Research Assistant Gönen Islakoğlu, students brought cinema and gastronomy together through creative work.
Held in Çeşme, the festival began with presentations exploring the relationship between gastronomy, art and cinema. In its practical section, students interpreted their chosen films from a gastronomic perspective, transforming characters, atmosphere and stories into original plate designs.
The work displayed demonstrated that food presentation extends beyond taste and can reflect a story, culture and cinematic narrative. Participants showed interest in the dishes’ original interpretations, which combined creativity, aesthetics and technical skill.
The project enabled students to apply their gastronomic knowledge and skills while developing interdisciplinary thinking, interpretation and design competencies.
Supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the ÜNİDES project aims to enrich students’ practical experiences by connecting academic work with culture, art and creative industries.
